Top 3 Natural Ingredients to Prevent and Cure Baldness By Peter Davidoff

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

The main cause of male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia) in men is dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone androgen. Normally, DHT plays a major role in male sexual development, but an increased level of DHT leads to hair loss. Here's how it happens when there is too much DHT in the scalp, it binds to hair follicles (this is part of the skin that grows hair), blocking the blood supply to the follicle. Since the hair follicles can not extract the nutrients it needs blood, it ceases to grow, then shrinks. This leads to hair becomes progressively thinner before disappearing completely.

The obvious solution to the problem of baldness is to block the DHT. These prescription drugs as Finasteride (Propecia) to prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT thus reducing the overall level of DHT in the body and prevent hair loss. However, synthetic chemical drugs have a number of unpleasant side effects (eg erectile dysfunction) and their use is not recommended.

There are natural alternatives to drugs available on prescription. They work the same way, by reducing the level of DHT. However, as they are for salaries, they have no side effects. Three more effective treatments for hair loss are:

Saw Palmetto. It is an herbal DHT inhibitors, which is less expensive than prescription drugs and has no side effects. It blocks the process, which converts testosterone into DHT, do so in the more natural than prescription drugs.

Pumpkin seeds. They contribute to the breakdown of DHT by the liver.

Zinc. Oral zinc prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT.

A good natural remedy baldness usually contains a mixture of these ingredients, and other nutrients to promote and facilitate the regrowth of hair.

Saw Palmetto is a natural ingredient, which reduces the level of DHT, so stop and reverse hair loss. Click here for the treatment of hair loss natural containing Saw Palmetto, as well as nutrients to promote rapid regrowth of hair.

Here are some natural treatments, you can begin using to produce more hair for you. First, we educate ourselves about what is necessary for good hair growth. One thing to keep in mind is that your follicles need a good supply of blood.

The reason is that they use nutrients from your blood to develop. A grass, you can take each day to stimulate blood flow in the scalp is ginkgo biloba. It has been used for centuries to address the lack of movement throughout the body.

Next on the list of natural treatments is that the Saw Palmetto extract. Men in particular should be aware of the many benefits of this plant can provide. It blocks the production of the hormone DHT, which is produced in the male body, once the testosterone levels have declined.

Stop Hair Loss and Regrow Lost Hair Naturally By Peter Davidoff

Thursday, December 25, 2008

The most common form of hair loss in men and women is androgenic alopecia (also known as androgenic alopecia.) For men, this condition is known as male pattern baldness, there is a well-defined pattern of hair loss - over time the hairline backward forming the "M" shape. Hair does not just fall, but also becomes thinner, often progresses to total baldness.

As recent research has discovered, male baldness is caused mainly by raising levels of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT.) It is not yet fully understood how DHT affects the scalp, but it is known that if a person is genetically predisposed to baldness, DHT in May to begin the process of what is called the follicular miniaturization. This process can begin at the end of puberty. Led to the miniaturization of hair follicles gradually becomes thinner and thinner until it is completely lost.

How can be prevented hair loss and reversed?

The good news is that it is possible to prevent and reverse baldness. Since it is mainly caused by excessive DHT, the obvious solution is to reduce the level of DHT. This can be done to chemical synthesis or natural treatments.

As for drugs (such as Rogaine or Propecia), their effectiveness is not universally accepted. Also, chemical synthesis, they have many side effects, including gynecomastia (growth of breasts in men), erectile dysfunction, chest pain, blurred vision etc

Are there alternatives to chemical drugs?

Treatment of hair loss is a natural obvious alternative to drugs. Their primary advantage is that they have no side effects. Second, this type of treatment that Saw Palmetto have been used by men since ancient times. Someone would have used if it has not been effective? Overall, I recommend the natural cures baldness composed of natural ingredients as the most effective solution of problems of hair loss.

The most common type of hair loss in men is encountered male baldness (also known as androgenic alopecia.) This condition leads to hair width gradually decreases until hair is completely disappeared and baldness develops.

According to recent research, the main cause of baldness (androgenic alopecia) is the hormone androgen called DHT (dihydrotestosterone.) Normally, this hormone plays an important role in the development of men, but when the level of DHT in the scalp is increased, it binds to the hair follicles to prevent them from extracting the necessary nutrients to the bloodstream. This makes the follicles shrink and the width of the hair shaft downwards. The width of the hair shaft determines the width of the hair and the follicles shrink, hair becomes thinner than the result. Finally, the tree is so close that the hair can not grow at all.

Fortunately, the solution to the problem of hair loss is quite simple - a lower level of dihydrotestosterone in the body usually prevents hair loss (or conversely, if it has already developed.) There are drugs' Ordinance such as Finasteride (Propecia), which reduce the level of DHT and stop hair loss. However, these drugs can sometimes have unpleasant side effects (for example, there are cases of gynecomastia (growth of breasts in men) and erectile dysfunction in users of finasteride.) Moreover, their effectiveness is not universally accepted.

A better solution to the problem of baldness is to use natural treatments. They operate in exactly the same way as prescription drugs synthesis by blocking DHT and preventing it from binding to hair follicles. However, since they contain only natural ingredients, they have no side effects commonly associated with synthetic chemicals. This makes the hair loss treatment following natural alternative to prescription drugs.

Saw Palmetto is a natural ingredient, which reduces the level of DHT, so stop and reverse hair loss.

How to Prevent and Treat Hair Loss Naturally By Peter Davidoff

The most common form of hair loss in men is by far the male pattern baldness (the scientific term for this is androgenic alopecia.) When you suffer from this condition, hair on the head becomes progressively thinner and thinner (in May this take years) until it is completely lost. It is called "model baldness, because hair is usually lost in a well-defined" M "shape.

There are a variety of causes that contribute to hair loss. However, according to medical studies, in men the main cause is excess levels of the hormone androgen dihydrotestosterone (DHT.) DHT plays a role in the development of secondary male sex characteristics, but increasing levels of DHT led to the so-called follicular miniaturization, in which the hair shaft width is decreased and hair become thinner. Previously, he believed that baldness is inherited, but there is no definite evidence that this is the case.

Until recently, the current approach to stop hair loss has been to use these chemicals as prescription drugs Finasteride (Propecia marketed as) and minoxidil. However, it was found that these drugs do not always help and have many side effects, including erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia (increased chest for men), acne, headaches and others. Although these synthetic chemicals help some patients, I would not risk losing more and more breasts with my hair!

Fortunately, when it comes to find the hair loss and prevention of hair loss, there is an alternative to synthetic drugs. There are natural treatments that work just as well or even better and more importantly, they have no side effects. Some of them may even give you the permanent results (which is not the case with drugs.) Finally, the ingredients contained in natural hair loss treatments have been used by humans for millennia. This proves more effective than medical research, is not it?

How to Combat Hair Loss Using All-Natural Treatments By Peter Davidoff

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

According to a recent survey, more than 85 million men and women in the United States alone experience progressive thinning hair, which gradually leads to baldness. This is the most common form of baldness called androgenic (sometimes androgenetic) alopecia, also known as male-pattern baldness or female type of baldness (in men and women respectively.) This article will focus on men and pattern baldness (even if the names are similar, the causes of baldness in men and women are slightly different.)

When men develop model baldness, hair constantly is thin and thinner until it disappeared. The main cause is the human hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT.) When there is too much DHT in the scalp, it binds itself to the hair follicles blocking the blood supply and prevent their growth. As time passes, follicles, lacking the necessary nutrients, reduce and the hair shaft width is reduced. As a result, hair becomes thinner. When the hair shaft becomes too small, no new hair can grow from the follicle.

Although there are medications such as Finasteride (Propecia marketed as), which seeks to reduce the level of DHT, they are not the best solution to the problem of baldness. Being synthetic chemicals, prescription drugs often have serious side effects (for example, there are documented cases of erectile dysfunction and gynecomastia among users of finasteride.)

Fortunately, there are natural supplements available that can block DHT just as well or even better than prescription drugs. Among these natural ingredients are Saw Palmetto (herbal a good blocker DHT), zinc and extract of pumpkin seeds (which prevents the conversion of testosterone into DHT thus reducing the overall concentration of DHT.) Good herbal hair loss remedy should also contain nutrients to promote rapid regrowth of hair follicles damaged by DHT.

Saw Palmetto is a natural ingredient, which reduces the level of DHT, so stop and reverse hair loss. Click here for natural hair loss treatment containing Saw Palmetto and nutrients to promote rapid regrowth of hair.

Yes, most do this. There are two types good and kind used in most brands of shampoo is in such low levels presents no threat or harm to everyone. Why Plugged Hair Follicles Thin Your Hair and What You Can Do by: Rudy Silva

Tuesday, November 4, 2008

The loss of your hair to where it thin or you become bald does not occur. Just understand why your hair falls thin and you can take against countermeasures. Find out what you-against measures to keep your hair full, thick, or thinning.

There are several ways to keep your hair clean and shiny and thick. If you still have hair and you want to keep it or if your hair begins to clarify, here are some hair remedies that you can use.

When your hair begins to thin down, three of these reasons are:

* Your hair follicles are slowly becoming plug and prevention of hair growing

* Your hair does not receive the nutrients needed to grow and remain strong

* Your hair is not receiving enough blood circulating in your scalp

I will cover only the first of these two articles.

Plugged hair follicles

Like acne, your hair follicles can become plugged. In acne a plug follicle results in sebum and bacteria becoming trapped in the follicle, leading to an infection known as the button.

When a hair follicle is plugged into your scalp, hair follicle in this becomes trapped and is unable to come to the surface. Over time, your scalp becomes smooth and you become bald or losing your hair.

Thus, the secret to preventing hair loss, thinning and balding is to prevent your hair follicles to become plugged. Once you know what causes your follicle to plug, you can avoid or counteract those conditions.

Here is what causes your follicles to become plugged.

* Excessive accumulation of testosterone in the blood to the conversion of DHT and plug your hair follicles

* Use of shampoos, conditioners, gels and contain too-natural chemicals that remain on your scalp and you get trapped in the follicles

* The release of excessive sebum scalp and flaking mixing to form a hard material that connects to your follicles.

DHT accumulate in your follicle

It is well known now that excessive conversion of testosterone into DHT accumulates in hair follicles and plugs. Knowing this, you can use a range of shampoos on your hair to dissolve this DHT. This allows open your pores and your hair growing normally. You can also take capsules that prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT.

A natural shampoo and dishwashing

Most shampoos, conditioners, hair gels and are created using petrochemicals, non-natural additives, dyes, preservatives that are harmful to your hair and scalp.

In addition, these unnatural hair chemicals occurs in your pores and can plug. Once in the follicle, they also get into your blood and are harmful to the liver and the rest of your body.

Look for more natural shampoo products that contain less petrochemicals and have more natural herbs cleaning with chemicals

Excessive sebum scalp and flaking

Some people have oily hair and some dry. When the hair follicle press excess sebum it accumulates on the scalp. Here it will combine with dirt, dead cells of the scalp, shampoo and chemical residues.

The assistance of natural remedies reduces the amount of chemicals available to combine with excess sebum and dead cells of the scalp. If you use any kind of gel to style your hair these gels combine with sebum to plug your follicles.

To keep your hair and scalp clean and follicles open, use aloe vera gel mixed with a few drops of jojoba oil. Buy aloe vera gel, 99% pure and pure jojoba oil. Put some aloe vera gel in your hands, and add 4-5 drops of jojoba oil. Rub your hands together, rub this mixture into your hair. This mixture keep your hair thick and shiny and your hair follicles open.

Simply make these changes to your hair care will go a long way in maintaining your hair is thinning further.

What Is The Role Of Minoxidil (Rogaine) In The Treatment Of Hair Loss? by: Richard Mitchell

Monday, November 3, 2008

Minoxidil is one of only two FDA approved treatments for hair loss and is the only anti-baldness drug approved for women. Originally presented as a drug to treat hypertension, it was noticed that users began to grow extra hair. It is now available without prescription as a topical application in liquid solutions such as Rogaine, but cheaper generic versions are also available. A 2% solution is marketed as a treatment for men and women, but a 5% is approved only for men.

The main advantage of minoxidil is its ability to stimulate hair growth - do not address the causes of hair loss, but simply overrides the symptoms. Uncertainty surrounds the reasons why it works, but it has proved to be a very effective treatment for hair loss with minimal risk of side effects.

It is particularly useful when used to reverse the effects of male pattern baldness, but it has also shown positive results in treating less severe forms of Alopecia Areata. Its usefulness in helping other forms of hair loss appears limited.

Minoxidil is better known as Rogaine, but other generic products provide the same results for much less cost. It can be safely used with other treatments for hair loss and is particularly effective when used in combination with Propecia to fight against male pattern baldness.

You can find more information on minoxidil and other treatments for hair loss on the site listed below.

What's with my Hair Falling Out !? by: Dr. Thomas S. Lee, NMD

Sunday, November 2, 2008

"Yeeee Gads! My hair fall!" This is a cry that can affect your whole family for long, awkward moments. What is it with your hair? Is it ever?

Let's dispel some confusion and try to quality to some of panic on this kind of look in the mirror.

About Hair

Healthy hair just looks good. The health of your scalp and hair follicles, the better your hair will look. If you start to experience some hair loss and a general decline in the overall health of your hair and scalp, it was probably the deteriorating for some time, and you are only now see the effects.

Hair grows in cycles of three phases. Each hair is in a growth phase (anagen phase) for 2-6 years before entering a transition phase (phase catagen) for 1-2 weeks, then a resting phase (telogen phase) for 5 -- 6 weeks. After that, the hair dies and falls. Then the follicle returns to the growth phase, and a new hair begins to grow.

In normal, healthy adults, approximate percentages of hair in these three phases are:

84% of growth (anagen) phase
0-1% in the transition (catagen) phase
14-15% in the rest (telogen) phase
Returning your hair follicles to the anagen growth cycle is the goal of any plan to regrow hair healthy.

DHT effects on the hair follicle

The medical term for hair loss is alopecia. It is defined as a state where 20% or more of a hair are in the telogen (resting) phase.

In cases of alopecia, the growth cycle of hair was amended so that the anagen (growth) phase is shortened. The result is an increase in the percentage of hairs in the telogen phase and catagen.

The enzyme conversion of testosterone creates a compound called Di Hydro-testosterone (DHT). The effect of DHT on hair follicles and sebaceous glands of the scalp can be detrimental to the anagen phase that you want to extend.

In the areas of thinning hair or loss, the follicles are more sites that may include DHT, and DHT these sites. This accumulation of DHT near the follicles can shorten their growth phase and increase the number of hairs in the transition phase and rest. The continuation of this accumulation of DHT actually reduce the hair follicles, causing their hair to become thinner, weaker and less healthy.

Reality Check: No product known today grow hair without a viable hair follicle. Only a hair follicle healthy can grow a hair.

A healthy hair follicle can withstand the negative effects of DHT and accumulation to continue in a normal cycle of unhealthy growth that we can. Hair care products that seek to mitigate by DHT work for the same binding sites on the hair follicle DHT attached. This blocks the abnormal response of the follicle DHT, so it blocks the damage that is causing the weakening and loss of hair.

The nutritional supplements recommended by a naturopathic physician work by helping the body to normalize hormone levels, while increasing the flow of nutrients and disposal of waste products from the hair follicle. This increases the strength of the follicle and protects it from further damage.

The amounts converting enzymes that create DHT testosterone, and the amounts of testosterone and cortisol, is believed to be genetically determined. That is why some people tend to have fewer problems with DHT than others.

The good news is that the gene expression (ie, how their body is present) may be changed by what one does in the coming weeks, months and years, and how they do. Thanks to scientific advances in understanding these physical events, you can arm yourself with the right information and learn to make the changes necessary to stop a hair loss problem. We'll explain how next.

Hair Loss

A variety of health conditions and environmental factors can cause hair loss. Similarly, many different approaches can be taken to stop hair loss and even hair back.

While much hair is important for us, but the body has many other important things to do on an ongoing basis. Some are higher priorities than to keep hair shiny - things like breathing, waste disposal, food absorption, protection against infection itself, fleeing danger, and so on. If the body has a limited budget of energy, nutrients and strength, he began to redirect its resources to the tasks it deems most important. It is fortunate for us.

If events occur at lower than the budget, the agency May find it necessary to prioritize other functions more than hair growth.

For example, if a person undergoes a series of radiation treatments to kill cancer treatments begin a stress on the body. The body of the first priority is to live and breathe the growth of hair of another beautiful day. Accordingly, the hair loss is often the result of radiotherapy. Regrowth of hair after this kind of trauma is possible, however, depending on the state of hair follicles and the overall capacity back to health. Naturopathic doctors call this "vital force".

The main causes of hair loss

Hair loss may also be caused by different types of injuries to the scalp, such as burns, radiation, acid spills or scratches. If the follicles are destroyed and replaced by smooth skin or scar tissue, a lotion or vitamin routine will not be very likely restore hair growth. At this stage it is time for a May implant, a weave, a wig or toupee. Or maybe it's just time to accept the reality of a lack of hair. Bald can be beautiful, too.

In addition, various genetic diseases, trends, and auto-immune body can lead to neglect the health of the hair follicle, or even attack. Some of these attacks could be triggered by environmental toxins, side effects of drugs, nutrient deficiencies, irregularities metabolic hormones, or inappropriate disposal of waste. Here we could discuss lifestyle choices and explanations of natural sciences such as nutrition, physiology, biochemistry and until your eyes glaze over.

If you take anti-depressive drugs as Zoloft or Paxil, you must be aware that the known side effects of these types of drugs can include hair loss. The vicious cycle of its composition depression to cope with hair loss due to these drugs is something worth trying to avoid. Work with your doctor and be smart about your use of all drugs because many drugs have adverse effects on the growth of hair.

If you are a "stress puppy", and any disruption in your plans tears you to pieces for hours or days at a time, your body's response to these stress hormones may be another factor in loss hair and aging. Some training in stress management or anger resolution would be your best choice, while addressing the resulting loss of physical medicine and hair lotions.

Sudden hair loss

Sudden hair loss may occur after severe psycho-physical illness, childbirth, menopause, loss of employment or loss of a loved one. This type of hair loss appears in a few weeks or months of trauma, depending on its severity. It is often reversible over time, emotional healing and the principles of physics support described here.

Hair loss in women

Rarely women lose their hair for reasons of genetic predisposition. They are, however, experience hair loss from other causes that we have already mentioned. In addition, women are more frequent consumers of hair that are known to damage hair and cause breakage and thinning. Rough handling, trading harsh shampoos, perms, hair color, bleach, all cosmetics and can damage the hair follicles. Hormone fluctuations events in the lives of men or women also contribute to stress on the physical condition of the hair follicle.

Factors to Consider

What your body needs to keep your hair well? Before seeking the services of a hair replacement center, it is important to understand some basic information about hair loss and what can be done about it.

Hair loss background

About 95% of the estimated 60 million men and women in the United States experience hair loss abnormal suffer from a hereditary condition called alopecia androgentic. Among women, the onset of hereditary hair loss usually does not occur until after menopause.

The incidence of alopecia androgentic is the highest in men in white but can also be found women, Asians and African-Americans. Usually, the thinning hair starts in the front surface and progresses over the head. In general, growth transition starts with a large, thick hair healthy, then evolves into thinner, shorter hair indefinite and, finally, in short, nonpigmented Vellus hairs cover the area sporadically. How to Choose the Best Product for Hair Regrowth by: John Tulley

Monday, October 27, 2008

Which is the best product ? Not necessarily the best advertised or the best known. The best product for hair regrowth will depend on you, the cause of your thinning hair, what you decide to do about it and it may also depend upon your age and sex.

Causes vary from a temporary problem caused by taking a particular drug or coming off the birth control pill or may be the end of pregnancy. Other associated conditions can be more serious, such as diabetes, an auto immune condition or hypothyroidism. Most people though have androgenetic alopecia which is a fancy way of saying that your baldness, whether male or female is inherited. So you see the matter is a complex one and if you are at all unsure of the cause of your hair loss you should consult your general practitioner in the first instance. He may be able to reassure you, prescribe treatment or refer you to a specialist dermatologist or endocrinologist depending upon the cause.

Treatments vary even more than causes. You may just decide to disguise your loss with a spray that thickens the hair you have or colours the scalp so that it is less obvious. You may go for a toupee or wig. Then there are herbal treatments available such as saw palmetto, a food supplement which seems to work for many people. There are of course surgical answers with hair transplants, but this choice needs careful consideration both because of the expense involved and because of the risk (relatively small) of infection and scarring.

Then there are drugs such as Minoxidil (approved by the F.D.A.) which is available under several different names such as Rogaine and Regaine and which comes in male and female versions and in different strengths. Some 26% of younger men and 20% of younger women reported moderate regrowth after 4 months, with the peak of growth after a year. It seems that it works best on top of the scalp rather than with loss at the temples. Like many other drug treatments if you stop taking it you will soon be back to square one. Some people find that it makes their scalp itch and overdosage may result in more serious conditions developing such as very low blood pressure and chest pain.

Finesteride is another well publicized treatment, in this case only being considered safe for men. Again it is available under several names. It takes about 3 months before there is any noticeable effect. Its side effects need to be looked into as some of these may be long lasting, even if you stop taking the drug.

So you will realise that there are a lot of factors to be balanced before you find the best best product for hair regrowth for you. Which ever treatment you choose, patience is a virtue that you will need as hair only grows at best about ½ inch per month.

Baldness Solutions To End The Hair-Raising Story Of Hair Loss by: Harry John

Sunday, October 26, 2008

Hair is a striking feature of human body. Hair loss, especially by female/male pattern baldness is matter of great concern. Pattern baldness is particularly is very troubling condition. In this type of baldness the hair is regularly lost at both the temples and at top of the skull. At last the person is left with a horseshoe pattern in the head.

Male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) is the chief devil that causes hair loss. With age one suffers from this disorder by acquiring the genetic predisposition and presence of male hormones. Contrary to the common perception, hereditary baldness is not a must in each generation. However, if one’s father is completely bald and one loses hair at an early stage, then he is said to be in male pattern baldness due to alopecia and 95% of complete baldness occurs by alopecia.

Excess amount of male hormone also causes hair loss. Besides, stress, improper nutrition and pollution together accelerate the baldness. One under stress will loss hair at double the speed of a normal human.

Taking dietary supplement and/or external application of cosmetics is fruitless to stop baldness. Fortunately, there are several baldness solution, the most popular ones being hair transplantation surgery, scalp reduction surgery and scalp flap surgery.

There is no such thing as true hair transplant. Surgeons replace the bald area from some other hair-healthy area of the head. Hence, the name hair replacement transplant. Hair transplant works when there is enough donor hairs. Victims of female/male pattern balding are the best candidates for hair transplant. If you still have hair growing anywhere around the scalp flaps hair transplantation can be easy and effective.

Scalp reduction surgery is a popular balding solution to cure the baldness caused by flaking scalps. It can be done in conjunction with hair transplants and involves surgically removing of a portion of the balding area, which causes the bald spot to be smaller. This means that there are fewer areas to graft to the head during a hair transplant.

Scalp flap is an invasive procedure that involves surgically removing a portion of healthy scalp and hair from the back or sides of the head and transplanting it on the bald areas. This creates a new hairline for the males who suffer from male pattern baldness. Scalp flaps are usually performed on patients who have complete balding in the front area of the scalp. Those candidates whose hair is just beginning to thin or is thinning in patches in random areas spanning the head may want to choose a different type of treatment.

Male Hair Loss- Can You Fight It Without Involving Cost, Treatment, Products Or Pills? by: Geoff Hayne

Friday, October 24, 2008

Millions of people throughout the world are victims of hair loss. Of this population, about 70% are men, so many more men are affected by hair loss problems than women. If you happen to be one of the sufferers, do not think that you are alone. A walk in town or a trip to your office will remind you of that fact. Your father, your friends, and your work colleagues could all be fellow sufferers.

Many men out there, though aware that baldness in men is acceptable in society, feel inferior or unwanted because of their hair loss. Baldness or hair loss in men affects males’ self-esteem and self-consciousness.

Male pattern hair loss is by far the most common form of hair loss. According to some surveys, male pattern hair loss affects men in close to 95% of all cases. Half of the total population of men in the whole world experiences this condition typically by the age of 50. However, there are some men who develop this type of hair loss in their teens, 20s, or 30s.

What most people don't realise is that the causes of hair loss are related to numerous conditions that often have little or nothing to do with hair growth or hair loss. In short almost every system in the body can affect the health of your hair. Stress, hormone balance, even medications can all play a part. Unfortunately many people today are lead to believe that drugs are the only available solution to treat hair loss. That is good for the drugs companies. Yet most of the hair loss products on the market today do not address the fundamental and physiological factors of the hair loss problem.

You do not need to affect the quality of your health by using hair loss drugs, when there is a safer, more effective alternative which requires no financial outlay, drugs, products or treatments.

Simple, proven, natural, step-by-step methods are available for both prevention and treatment of hair loss in both men and women.

Some simple adjustments to your daily exercise and diet can result in huge benefits to the condition of your hair.

There are many benefits to treating your hair loss naturally. You can achieve long term rejuvenation of the hair follicles. Also by following a series of simple steps you can also also greatly enhance and improve your overall health and longevity, including reducing stress.

People that have used these natural methods have called it the most important discovery in their lives.

Genetic Hair Loss by: Kaelem Steven

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Hair loss is the most dreaded problem among humans as it directly affects the person’s outlook. Hair loss can be caused by a number of things like using harsh chemical soaps, shampoos, gels, stress or imbalanced diet. Certain illness can also cause hair. These are all causes in hair loss but the most common type of hair loss that affects approximately 95% men and 70% women is known as hereditary hair loss also known as Genetic hair loss. Genetic hair loss is more commonly observed among males than females and usually starts at the age of 30. The reason for this is that this type of hair loss depends on the extent to which the male hormone testosterone is converted in the scalp to another hormone dihydroxytestosterone. Although genetic hair loss takes place usually after the age of 30 in many cases but in some cases it starts to happen as early as your late teens. Genetic hair loss comes usually from the mother’s side of the family.

Genetic hair loss occurs due to the shortening of the hair's growth cycle, this in turn makes the hair thinner and shorter, and a time comes when the growth stalls completely. It is also responsible for developing bald patches and interacts with the hair follicles. The hereditary hair loss has a very predictable pattern, which is often followed from generation to generation so you can predict by seeing your father and his father how you will go. By the time men reach 50 years of age 50% of the men become bald. In case of men hair loss usually occurs on the crown or the top of the head starting with a receding hairline and leaving healthy hair on the back and sides of the head.

Through certain preventive measure people can slow down the process of baldness. These include using products that make the hair healthy and avoid certain things that damage hair and make them weak, as weak hair fall of easily.

A Review of Hair Loss Products by: Alison Stevens

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

It is easier to prevent healthy hair falling out than to regrow hair in already-dormant hair follicles.

Home Remedies

There are all kinds of home remedies for hair loss. Many of them can be dismissed as old wives tales—but some of them possibly help some people. Here are a few of the more promising home remedies for hair loss:

- Rinse hair with a solution of sage tea and apple cider vinegar
- Almond oil, castor oil, olive oil, jojoba oil and amla oil may have benefits when warmed and

massaged into the scalp
- Coconut milk or aloe vera gel massaged into the scalp may have a similar effect
- A masque of honey and egg yolk can be applied to the hair and scalp.

With the exception of the sage tea and apple cide vinegar all other applications should be shampooed out of the hair after use.

Herbal Remedies

Several herbal remedies make the claim of restoring hair growth and a number of herbal lotions as well as several nutritional supplements claim to be specifically formulated to deal with hair loss. A person with a preference for alternative treatments rather than chemically based treatments may benefit from a visit to a herbalist to discuss herbal hair loss remedies.

It has been suggested that the following herbal remedies may be of assistance in hair loss:

- ginko biloba
- green tea
- polygonum multiflorum, a traditional Chinese herb
- pygeum
- aloe vera
- saw palmetto (serenoa repens)
- stinging nettle
- resveratrol, a natural antioxidant found in grape skins

Some of these are taken in tablet form and some are made into preparations that you massage into your scalp. Some, for example stinging nettle, can cause an allergic reaction, so all herbal preparations should be used with care.

It is claimed that saw palmetto - a herbal DHT inbibitor - has fewer side effects and is cheaper that finasteride (sold in the US as Propecia) and works in a similar manner

Minoxidil (Rogain®)

Many people have confidence in this product for restoring hair growth. It’s available at any pharmacy without a prescription and it appears to work for a lot of people. Minoxidil is useful for both men and women to assist in regrowing hair. Treatment needs to be continuous, however, because ceasing treatment with Minoxidil will cause the hair to again begin falling out.

Finasteride (Propecia®)

Finasteride in an antiandrogen 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, marketed under the names Propecia, Proscar, Finacar and others. It is a prescription medication and may be the best hair loss product for some people. A visit to a doctor is required to get a prescrption, but that in itself is not a bad thing because the doctor will check to see if there is some underlying cause for the hair loss that may require treatment. There are some known side effects with Finesteride, including erectile dysfuntion, that affect a small number of users of the preparation.

Ketoconazole

Ketoconazole is an anti-fungal and potent 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that is often used as a topically applied supplement to other hair loss treatments.

It is interesting to note that placebo treatments often have reasonable success rates (and similar side effects) in studies, although the success rate tends not to be as high as with the product being tested.

Concealing Baldness

There are times when the best hair loss product is a cover up of some kind. This is especially true when the hair loss is temporary, such as when hair falls out during chemotherapy. Several organizations produce hats or caps for cancer sufferers.

Other methods of hiding hair loss include the comb over which involves combing the remaining hair over the bald spot. This ceases to be effective as balness increases. A wig or a hairpiece is another option but in the end, embracing baldness - especially for men - can be the simplest, cheapest and often the best option.
